Service Adviser

An Automotive Workshop Service Advisor acts as a crucial liaison between customers and the service department, assessing customer needs, creating repair orders, providing service estimates and timelines, and coordinating with technicians to ensure efficient vehicle maintenance and repair. Daily responsibilities include greeting customers, discussing vehicle issues, obtaining approvals for additional work, keeping clients informed of progress, and maintaining thorough documentation of services. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Interaction: Greet customers, listen to their concerns about their vehicles, and provide exceptional customer service. 
  • Estimates & Approvals: Provide cost estimates for requested services and obtain customer approval for any additional work needed. 
  • Communication: Keep customers updated on their vehicle’s status and follow up with them to schedule future maintenance. 
  • Documentation: Prepare accurate repair orders and document all approved and declined services. 
  • Coordination: Liaise with the service foreman to ensure a smooth workflow and efficient repair process. 

Essential Skills and Qualities

  • Communication: Strong communication skills are essential for effectively explaining technical issues and service needs to customers. 
  • Customer Service: A focus on excellent customer service is vital for building and maintaining relationships. 
  • Organisational Skills: The ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and maintain thorough records is important. 
  • Technical Knowledge: A good understanding of vehicle service and maintenance is necessary to effectively discuss repairs with both customers and technicians. 
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient use of service management systems and other relevant software is often required. ( SAM / Citrix  and Zero )
